"Since we had no reference point in building a pool, we were unsure how to proceed. After receiving proposals from three companies, we chose Starwood, primarily because of its turn-key concept. The other builders -- one more expensive and the other less expensive -- would have required us to function as a project manager/general contractor for other componenets of the project: fencing, gates, irrigation system and landscaping. The competing proposals contained too many moving parts, so to speak, and we were uncomfortable proceeding in such a manner. When Steve told ushe'd oversee the entire project and leave everything the way he found it at the project's outset, we were convinced Starwood was the right choice. The other two competitors promised a pool in "about 30 days," but we were somewhat skeptical. First, time wasn't as issue because of the time of year. Secondly, we believed the 30-day time frame was a bit unrealistic given our location, requirements and time of year. After some initial research, we concluded, it was advantageous to install a saltwater pool, which is what Starwood recommends. The system monitors and cleans itself, for the most part. Upkeep isn't as labor intensive as other applications. Lastly, the graceful design of the pool and the surrounding decking (which extends to our back door) as well as the addition of an island bar compliment the backyard beautifully. It's not only visually pleasing, the entire project compliments the architecture so well, it looks as if it was part of the original design and construction of our home."
