Know Your Pool

It is highly recommended that all pool owners know and understand their pool water and pool equipment. Many people hire a weekly chemical and cleaning service, which is encouraged, but it is you that paid your hard earned dollars on the pool. If you have a service, take a sample of your pool water to a local pool supply store and ask them to test it. They will give you the results and you will now know how balanced your pool is. Doing this every 3 to 6 months should be enough to simply check up on your water. This can save you lots of money in avoided repeirs down the line.
